St James Palace

We provided independent scaffold and temporary roofs to facilitate roofing works at St James Palace

Client Royal Household
Main Contractor Mundy Roofing Ltd
Contact Period 26 weeks
Date Commenced July 2019
Scope of Works To provide an independent scaffold and temporary roofs to allow roofing work to take place.  The scaffold was clad with shrink wrapping to provide a more pleasant environment to work in than traditional Monarflex sheeting.  The sheeting is fixed to the scaffold and heated so that it shrinks to form a tightly fitted covering.  The works also included a #Haki staircase, internal crash decks and a 500Kg hoist.
Added Value The roof was formed using aluminium #Haki, beams, thus providing a lightweight temporary roof which is far easier and quicker to erect than traditional tin sheets.  A #Haki staircase was used to allow easy access to the roof for the Main Contractor. Due to the historic nature of the building, buttresses were used to tie the scaffold in rather than drilling into the building.
Points of Interest The picture of the Guardsmen was taken by a passer-by,  on the hottest day of the year.  The poor Guardsmen are carrying out their usual ceremonial duties in full dress uniform under the watchful of a huge gallery of tourists
